A Healthy Dose of Minerals

Hey everybody! You know how I talked about mineral make-up being better for your skin in my last blog?? Well, I figured that it might be a good idea to talk a little more in-depth about it and answer some frequently asked questions (or basically some questions that I had haha). For example: What's it made out of? Is it healthier/more natural than regular make-up? What are the pros and cons? And is it even worth the money?.....Well, today I'm going to cover all of those topics and hopefully familiarize you with mineral makeup. =)
Okay, let's get started. Question number one: What is mineral makeup?
Mineral Makeup is a form of makeup that is made from natural minerals (hence the name) and doesn't contain any yucky chemicals or preservatives. Chemicals can dry out your skin or even cause breakouts by making it oily. And yes, from what I've heard and from personal experience it is healthier for your skin. =)
Now moving on to question two: What are some pros and cons of mineral makeup?
Okay, the good stuff first =)...one pro is obviously that it is very good for your skin, but another one is
that if you have oily skin, it is perfectly safe for your face (won't add any unnecessary oils).
The only con that I can think of is just the fact that for some brands it is about $3 more than the non mineral stuff. But with all the advantages, it is totally worth it!
Okay, for the final question: There are so many different brands...what should I buy?
One of the top brands of mineral makeup is Bare Minerals. This is a nice brand because it is not heavy on your face (it practically feels like it isn't there) =). If you're really not up for
spending a lot of money to try this type of makeup out, there is a cheap alternative by the brand Ulta. Just explore a little on their website....you might find a different brand that you like better.
Good luck picking out mineral makeup and I hope this helped you get to know it a little bit more. If anyone has any other things to add, questions, or favorite brands for me to try :P be sure to post a comment below!! =) I love hearing your input!

Sweet Deal at Ulta.com!!!

Hey girls, something really exciting is going on at Ulta.com!! And I recommend that you check it out.
Okay, here's the scoop... at Ulta.com for a limited time you can get an $88 makeup kit completely free!! And I know you are probably thinking "What!? There has to be a catch!"
I'll admit that there is a little "catch" but I wouldn't even call it that. All you have to do is spend at least $17.50 on Ulta's own products (for promotional purposes I think) and the kit is yours. Exciting, right!? =)
All right, now I will let you in on another little secret....if you spend $25 or more on your purchase and type in the code 51532 at the checkout, then you will receive free shipping. And we all know how expensive shipping can be, right?
Ulta also lets you pick 3 free samples of high-end products at the end of every purchase (it just keeps getting better and better!!)

Enough of me freaking out (haha) let's cut to the chase of what and what not to buy.
Personally, I have somewhat oily skin so I like to look at the mineral foundations, blushes, concealers, etc. Even if you don't have oily skin, mineral products are all around healthier for your face.
You get a lot of eyeliners, lip products, mascara (a whole tube!), and eye shadow so I wouldn't really worry about buying those. They've got you covered with that =).
They also have tools like eyelash curlers and that type of stuff so you might want to take a look at those too.
So much to choose!! So little time! haha

Anyway, this is limited time (while supplies last) so be sure to jump on this offer. You get a lot for just $25!!
If anyone tries this, I would love it if you could leave comments and tell me what you bought!! =) Enjoy!

Great Skin....Now I Could Say "Yes To" That

Hi everyone! Now, you've probably seen the reviews out there, but if you haven't, let me tell you about my new secret that makes me say "yes to" great skin.......and it's called "Yes to Carrots."
Here's a brief look at what Yes to Carrots is all about. Within the "Yes to" brand, there are 4 sub-brands. Them being Yes to Carrots, Yes to Tomatoes, Yes to Cucumbers, and Yes to Blueberries.
The Yes to Carrots is for basic nourishment of skin. Yes to Tomatoes is for oily skin and it gets rid of acne (yay!). Yes to blueberries is anti-aging products. And finally my favorite sub-brand (actually, I don't really know if its my favorite because I like Carrots and Tomatoes too) =)...Yes to Cucumbers which sooths sensitive skin.
Alrighty, so far I have used the Yes to Carrots Hand and Elbow Moisturizer which is just amazing. I love, love, love this product and honestly would recommend it to anyone. It doesn't necessarily need to be used just on hands and elbows...it can be used on your face too. It doesn't leave you feeling greasy at all, but has more of a soft, velvety finish. It has a nice scent to it as well.
Now from the Yes to Tomatoes brand, I have used the Acne Treating Bundle which consists of acne removing facial pads, a roller ball spot stick (to target blemishes), and a daily pore scrub (which removes makeup too...double yay!). And the best part is that I got it all on the yes to carrots website (click here for the link) for just $20!!!!! Which is not very expensive considering Oxy and Neutrogena products are expensive (and sometimes leave unsightly scars...yuck).
A little extra info about me.....the skin around my lips will sometimes get dry due to damage that I got from Oxy acne products (bad experience). You can't actually see the dryness, but its very uncomfortable, so when I need to get rid of that, I turn to my Yes to Cucumbers facial wipes. They come in On the Go packages (pack of 10) and Regular ones too (pack of 40). They are also great for removing makeup and leave your skin feeling clean and tingly. =)...There is a nice cucumber-melon scent too.
Sadly, I haven't tried the Yes to Blueberries products yet (and I don't think there will be a need for a long time :P). Sorry that I can't really tell you about those, but if any of you have tried them, it would be great if you could leave a comment and tell me what you thought.
So if you are looking to buy these products, they can be found at Target (that's where I get mine), other drugstores, and online at their website (I urge you to check it out...they have online exclusives) =).
I hoped this familiarized you with the "Yes to" brand and I hope you are as ready as I am to say "yes to" great skin!! =)

   Much love,

Marvelous Mascara

Since this is my first "official" blog post, I figured I should cover a topic that most girls struggle with... especially when they are trying to decide their first makeup purchase.
"OMG?! What should I buy first?!"
But even though there are many types of eyeliner, foundation, blush, etc.. don't worry about those just yet. Just head to the mascara section and you'll be ready to jump into the world of makeup =).
Now for a little extra info about yours truly. I started wearing makeup when I was in 7th grade. And all I started with was some simple mascara. It was a lifesaver
Mascara warms your whole appearance and makes your eyes sparkle too!! In fact, the brand I am currently wearing is called Lash Stiletto Waterproof Mascara and it is by Maybelline. I love this Mascara because of its longer wand and fibers so it makes your lashes look nice and thick. It will also come off nicely with a cleanser/ makeup remover (it doesn't leave any gross residue). Another thing is that it is very reasonable and you can get it almost anywhere (I got mine at Walmart). I think it costs about $4-7....so its very inexpensive which is always a plus =)!! Here is a picture just in case anyone wants to see.

Another type of mascara that I love is L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion in Waterproof Black because instead of having a regular wand..the end of the wand is rounded, which helps you get every lash, even the corners! You can get this at Walmart (and other places) for around the same price as the Lash Stiletto. =) I would be wearing that right now but due my bad organizational skills,I can't seem to locate the mascara :P haha. Below is a picture of Telescopic Explosion Mascara in case anyone wants to check this out as well.

I really recommend these two products to start out your makeup experience or even to add to you beauty product collection. =) If any of you try these, I would love it if you could leave a comment and tell me what you think or if you have any other favorite brand of mascara you recommend. Thx!! =)
